THIS WEEK ON LOCALS ONLY (January 4): Whoa boy, was this week's show a blast! It was the first show of the new year, and a pretty great way to kick it off, if I do say so myself. My buddy Chris Travis stopped by the station and helped me co-host Locals Only on Sunday (Jan 4th)--Chris hosted the show back when it was called "The Young and the Restless" before moving to the far away land of England. And the guys from Speaker Speaker hung out for a bit too! It was sort of insanity.

So, I gotta know, what'd you think of the Exohxo songs? Exohxo is a new Seattle band featuring two of the guys--Jasen and Danny--from Speaker Speaker. They're playing their first show at the Comet on January 29th with Half Acre Day and Oh Captain My Captain. Visit their MySpace to hear more!
Coming up much sooner, this Friday in fact, is the Burning Buildings Showcase at the Sunset. Burning Buildings is Chris Travis' record label, and the show features pretty much every band they're currently working with including Speaker Speaker, To the Waves, the Lonely Forest, Daniel G. Harmann, City Light, and the Oregon Donor. We played a bunch of those bands on this week's show, so check it out On Demand to hear 'em all.

The shows on Thursday and Friday are benefit shows for John Spalding, a very talented local musician who passed away in November. John was the guitarist for 90 Lb. Wuss and Raft of Dead Monkeys, and he before he died, he recorded a solo record under the name Loveland. Proceeds from the shows will go to his family, so they can pay the remaining medical bills. Donations are also being accepted at any Bank of America location--just say you'd like to donate to the John D. Spalding Medical fund.
